Envisioning Somerset
Photo Series #1
By taking pictures of the people and places in the community it can unify the town. Keeping these pictures in a photo series gives a better example of the concept you are trying to create. A photograph can promote a community because taking pictures and displaying them gives recognition to the group. I tried to take pictures that were as natural as possible, for example the picture of Chloe is just her hanging out in school. Also, students at the football game that make the fan section.

Photo Series #2
All the photos I took show the decay of Somerset and how old it really is. Churches, old railroads, cemeteries, playgrounds, old buildings all show the age of Somerset and how it has developed over the years. Dates on tomb stones show the actual age. By the pealing paint, moss, rock document that type of feeling. One of the photos is of Ian looking off in the distance on Mallard's Point looking at what used to be a railroad. This is one major part of history that the town of Somerset is known for. Another picture captures that worn out feel is the picture of the rock with vines strung all over. Considering vines grow over time, this is a perfect example of the old age.
Photo Series #3
This set really shows the decay and time period of how long Somerset has been around. With moss on rocks and tombstones, vines on rocks, as well as chipped paint, Somerset is really shown of its culture and history. I kept all these photos bright and happy because although this wonderful town has it's old age, it's a great place to be and especially grow up and spend life! My favorite picture in this bunch is the second one with vines wrapping around a rock wall. I like all the detail and lines that lead your eyes throughout this image. Although the branches are neutral colors, the moss in the background brings life and shows that Somerset isn't "dead." Somerset used to be known for its ports and flourishing business, which is why taking pictures of the water makes sense and shows that historical aspect.
