Line and Shape: Black and White
Line and Shape: Color
When doing this assignment, I used a couple different locations with different subject matter to shoot my photos. The first place that I went was the High School. I went straight to the track/football field because I knew this area had a lot to do with line and shape. I took pictures of the track, the bleachers, and also the soccer net. The next place I went to capture these photos was Somerset Marina, also where my family's boat is kept. Here, I took pictures of my boat, and also a picture of a ladder. When taking these photos, I made sure they had at least one of the two, line and shape. In all of these photos, I tried to be the best distance away to capture the best shot. I didn't want the photos to be too far zoomed in that you couldn't tell what the picture was of, but a good enough shot that it captured the object and some background. The first picture is taken at a lower angle, the second is also at a lower angle, the third is about an eye-level shot, the fourth is at a lower angle, the fifth is taken from a higher viewpoint and lastly, the sixth is taken at a higher level to get all the track numbers in the frame. Most of the pictures I took are horizontal, only because it captures more of the shot. But the only two that I decided to take vertically are of one central object that I was trying to capture, like the wood ladder in the fourth photo and the railing/bleachers in the fifth photo. In some of these photos, I did consider the rule of thirds because it gives viewers the illusion as if everything has been perfectly placed. I used this rule with the ladder in the fourth photo, the bleachers in the fifth photo, and the track lines in the sixth photo. I think the picture that is a dynamic composition that leads the viewers eyes throughout the work, would be the picture of the fence with the bleachers peaking through. Because of the patterns of the fence, I feel as if it gives some balance in the picture but also lets your eyes wander through the work without anything popping out at you too much.
